My name is Susanna and I live in the beautiful market town of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. I am a blogger, influencer and freelance writer and I work under the name of A Yorkshire Girl.
My love of writing began as a little girl when I would recreate fairy stories on scraps of paper, hiding my precious writing under my pillow where only the fairies and I could see them. My mother was a prolific writer and encouraged me to enter writing and poetry competitions at the local library. I can still remember the feeling of sweet success as I received my frequent prizes of brightly coloured sweets and chocolate.
I have attended many writing courses (more than I care to remember) and I have always been an avid writer. Some years ago I co founded Knaresborough Writing Group, a lively group full of talented writers, many of whom have gone on to publish their work.
My first published work in my own name was 'Ageless Beauty' a guide written for women to help them deal with various issues in their life using aromatherapy and natural products. In February 2019 my first poetry anthology will be published. 'The Journey' is a collection of poems written by me during my own journey through mental health issues. I hope that by sharing these poems, the reader feels less alone and even empowered. I wanted to express these emotions through poetry as I feel this is the best way to honestly portray the intense feelings associated with mental health issues.
Along with my blogging work I also work in partnership with a fellow author Francesca Hepton. Together we run writing workshops for women under the title 'The Ladies Writing Club'. Our hope in running these workshops is to empower women to find their voice and to express their deepest thoughts, passions and emotions through the written word.
